Why is this website international ?

Unlike most of the websites and information sources you have come across on the internet, this website is not the work of a single author. Instead, Degus International is a collection of works, insight and information, thought out and put together by experienced degu owners in Europe and North America.

This international flair, not only broadens our perspective of degu keeping, but also provides reliable, trustworthy information for our readers.

"We pride ourselves on being a progressive community of degu owners, with members from different parts of the
globe. We hope to not only broaden our perspective of degu keeping, but also provide reliable, trustworthy information to degu owners. Our goal is to promote better living standards for pet degus and help each other  learn more about these fascinating
creatures. We do this by continuing to expand in the fields of adequate housing and healthy nutrition. We have strong belief in the sharing of insight and experiences and we look forward to exchanging with other communities."  OUR TEAM

Featured Post of the Month: (Username: greeneye)
"The basic needs of a Degu are of course, living in an appropriate group, natural food and nutrition and as much space as possible to satisfy the inherent necessity to run.  As stated  in every report about the life of Degus in the wild, they dig caves and tunnels into the earth.
Sometimes they also use the caves of other species to live in. The  burrow is dug communally by several members of the group which coordinate their activities and it is used by all members. It usually consists of several caves to rest and to store food with
different tunnels.

Unfortunatly the digging behaviour is very rarely considered when degus are kept in captivity, and the animals recieve
prefabricated things like wooden houses to build their nests of hay or paper in..."
